Eclipse going mad
I'm getting more and more annoyed with Eclipse. I'm using 3.2M5 with WT1.5 for some weeks now and everything worked fine - ok, there are some bugs and the new setup dialog for configuring your java sources is really crap - where is the old tree view?
But then on sunday it happened, I installed a plugin which made my installation totally unusable. From that time on, entries in the menu were missing, some functions didn't work and most interestingly the Java Editor was gone! Only the text editor was working. Ok, no problem, just uninstall the recently installed plugin and everything should be back to normal. Good idea, but it did not work that way. Eclipse was still unusable even without the new plugin. So I had to reinstall Eclipse! (Ok, perhaps there are some tricks to "cleanup" the installation so a reinstallation is not required)
So I'm really wondering how this could happen? Isn't OSGI providing an infrastructure to prevent those scenarios? One plugin makeing the whole application unusable? Whatever it was, I hope I don't see this happen again...
