Apache Con - Day 0
I travelled by car this morning from Paderborn to Stuttgart - which is about 450km; everything went smoothly (apart from some system crashs of the glorious navigation system) and after searching the building for the Cocoon sit-together for about 15min I eventually found it.
It's really fun to meet all those great guys again; today we were already eight people: David, Gianugo, Upayavira, Daniel, Reinhard, Torsten and Nicola Ken. We had some interesting talks about moving Cocoon to OSGi; Daniel did a great presentation about OSGi itself and afterwards even I had a good overview of what OSGi can and what not.
Tomorrow we will continue this at the ApacheCon hackathon and other committers will join it; I'm really interested in the outcome. Today, I have a very vague understanding about the impacts of such a big move and the more I think about it, the more questions I see :)
But on the other hand, OSGi seems to be the ideal solution for many problems we currently face day by day. And it has the power to bring the basics for the long awaited Cocoon blocks.
So, let's see what tomorrow brings...
